A shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) left three dead and one seriously hurt on Wednesday, as confirmed by police. The attacker also died in the incident.
The shooting occurred around 11:45 am, causing students and staff to seek safety in classrooms and dorms. The campus spans over 332 acres. The shooter, who began firing on the fourth floor of the Lee Business School building, moved through several levels before being fatally shot by police outside the building.
UNLV first alerted about the shooting at 11:53 am, with further reports of gunfire near the Student Union coming about 20 minutes later. The university instructed those at Beam Hall to evacuate and follow the RUN-HIDE-FIGHT safety protocol.
University police chief Adam Garcia reported that two campus officers confronted the shooter in a firefight, resulting in the shooter's death.
